Review 6/26/2019: I played in the Texas Hold'em Tournament at White Bear Bar last evening on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. First time I was in the place. They have a really big parking lot and are located in a nice part of town close to the lake. They have good tasting mixed drinks and friendly bartender. The game started promptly at the scheduled time of 7:00 pm. I was there early and the Tournament Director was friendly and helpful in explaining the point system that the Straight Flush company uses to advance players of their games into more high level games. People that arrive early are given an extra $1,500 in chips. I received the bonus because I was there early. There were 3 tables set up in the back of the bar for that night's tournament. The tables were small black plastic table tops. The felt by my seat on the end had a raised up fold in it that made the cards hard to move on the table top. The cards were difficult to raise up and look at. Cards were small poker cards like used in casinos. Friendly players, about 30 players that night. Prizes are determined by how many players show up on a particular night. The bartender said that first place is usually around $30 or $50. There is a splash pot hand dealt at break time. Chips are put into the pot by Tournament Director and one hand is played to get those chips. I did really good in the beginning, but after first break I called to many big bets with the four clubs I had, going all in on the river, and the river was not a club, so I was out. All and all though a fun experience.
